A detailed Summary of jane eyre

In Arthur Miller's famous allegorical play The Crucible, the main character John Proctor, is a young, defiant yet respected farmer. Set in hysteria and chaos, as the witch trials of Salem unfold, Proctor finds himself in a difficult situation in which his decision and actions decide not only his fate, but also the fate of many innocent people like himself. John Proctor is a character defined by moral values. Proctor’s displays these through his dynamic character traits, his influence on others, and the impact of his actions on the result of the play.

In the community, people looked upon John Proctor as a very respected member of society. His image optimized the good, decent man of Salem village. When the hysteria of witchcraft had drawn its claws closer and closer to Proctor, John was determined to take a stand and fight the injustice. His efforts alone drew the inspiration of his fellow neighbors, whether it was the signing of the petition or sacrificing his life for the sake of the innocent who had been accused. But when the time comes Mary Warren ends up accusing Proctor because Proctor wanted her to tell the truth in the first place. He shocks the court when he states that he is admitting that this is pretense. This is a big step that had an impact on everyone, but since so many people have been tried and killed already no one would consider it. All throughout the play his influences on others and positions he takes help to determine the truth, therefore Proctor ends up giving his life for the truth.
