How Attractive Am I?
A detailed Summary of How Attractive Am I?
What is it that makes a person attractive? For men is it having a square jaw with chiseled facial futures, broad shoulders and a washboard stomach? Do women have to have a small nose, big eyes and a body that's 36"-24"-36"? Everyone in the world has an idea of what they think the perfect body for men and women should look like and what they think attractive is. However not everyone has a "perfect body" and thinks of themselves as attractive. It seems as though no mater how hard people work and how much people try to make themselves attractive they can always find flaws in themselves and are never fully satisfied. I know I feel that way. No matter how good I am feeling about my body and appearance I always think that there are things I should improve on.
I have always been very self-conscious about my appearance. I think to look at what types of negative and positive things have happened in my life as a result of how I felt about my attractiveness will be beneficial for me.
It is hard to say what it is that makes people feel that they are attractive. Self-esteem is a very important factor that plays a roll in how attractive people feel about themselves and how people view their own self worth. Physical attractiveness

3. Most people treat good-looking people better than they treat the unattractive.
My insecurities only compounded when I went to college. I still felt as though I was relatively attractive but I was still very self-conscious of my weight. I knew that I would be meeting people I hadn't meet and didn't know, and realized that people's first impressions of you rely heavily on your looks. My assumption turned out to be true and is proven by Hatfield and Rapson (p11-14). They believe not only that people judge you based on your looks, but also that you judge yourself based on what you think other people think of you. There is a self-fulfilling prophecy that takes place when people first meet, and occurs in a four step process:

can boost someone's self esteem and for most peoples adolecent years it is most likely the major compoenent of their self-esteem. At the same time however, I believe that people who have a high self-esteem are found to be more attractive than those who have a low self-esteem. That is why self-esteem and physical appearance are connected in such a viscious cycle, because they are both dependent variables of each other.
I know that I am no exception to both sides of this stereotype, and I think this type of social cognition plays a large roll in my everyday life. When I got to college I met plenty of new people and made friends easily but still felt as though I would not be able to attract the type of girls I wanted. Which of course were good looking girls, or at least what I thought was good looking. So, after a week or two of college I decided to start wathing what I ate and go running a few times a week. Little did I know that this decision would have a major effect on my life and change me forever.
helping hand to my self-esteem and made me feel like I was more attractive to others. Although like I said early self-esteem is not the only thing that makes people attractive, physical appearance is equally if not more important. In my opinion I was a
