frank loyed wright

The Windows of the Darwin D. Martin house exhibit is a very interesting exhibit. It is an exhibit expressing the complexity of the architectural works of Frank Lloyd Wright. He was born on June 8th 1867. Mr. Wright lived for a period of 91 years. In his life time he had many architectural successes. Frank Lloyd Wright had built several famous buildings and houses. Some of his famous works are world renowned. Several of his works were the Larkin company Administration Building located here in Buffalo, and the Falling water house, Home of Edgar Kaufman in Pennsylvania. He also designed one of the most famous museums in New York City, The Soloman R. Gugenhiem Museum.

Frank Lloyd Wright used his famous art glass designs on windows, doors, ceilings lights, and lamps. They are useful in the artful transformation of the interior space, and exterior space in his prairie style homes and buildings in way's that traditional stained glass windows had not accomplished. He used a famous design in one of the rooms of the Martin house that was called the Tree of Life. These windows had a certain pattern which reflected the shape of a tree. The way that the light reflected through them was also very intruiging.

The tree of life exhibit was shown in the "Reception room". His windows didn't have specific names. This design of windows was used in the first floor of his house, and the only window design in the second floor.

I exhibit didn't really appeal to me that much. As I looked through the virtual reality walk through tour in the computer, I found something that interested me. What caught my attention was Mr. Wright's themes of architecture. They were on his (Philosophy). This consisted of Organic architecture, Technology, Democracy, Unity, Balance, Refuge, Light/Spirit, and Truth against the world. The other was (Materials), which consisted of reinforced concrete, wood, stone, glass, copper, plaster, and blocks. The third was Patterns in his work. The (Patterns) were geometry's, colors, sources, musical, culture, and natural. There was also (Types) of architectural designs, they were Atrium, Heartum, and tower. He also had (Sites) they were Flat, Hills, and Mountains.

A quote that can express how other architects felt about him was taken out from the internet. The quote states "The greatest artist this country has ever produced seems to be coming into his own. Americas other great artists-our paintes, sculptors, composers- don't really rank with the tops of all time. They're not Rembrandt or Michelangelo or bethoven. Wright alone has that standing."

Robert Campbell, architectural writer.
