We have all seen or heard stories about people wanting to end their lives due to extreme pain and suffering. Since they know they will be dying very shortly, they would rather skip the extreme pain and suffering and go out as fast as possible. But what if that person is not under extreme pain at the time? You know you are at death's doorstep. If they keep you alive until a medic can examine you, you will be in the some of the most excruciating pain a human being can go through, sheer torture. Even if the medic does say there is a chance of saving you from certain death, you will be a bed-ridden vegetable. So you ask your friend and fellow soldier to shoot you in the head to put you out of your misery. This is mercy killing. You know you are going to die, so instead of having to go through the extreme suffering, you ask someone to help put you out.
