TRYING to get banned from Napster isn't easy.The file-sharing music hub and the band Metallica have become even more popular since the heavy-metal rockers demanded Napster ban 317,000 fans suspected of illegally downloading Metallica songs.

As the controversy over digital downloading rages, I decided to enter the fray and download some Metallica songs myself.

I upgraded my Napster program to the latest version, which has chat rooms, instant messaging options and the capability to download an unlimited number of songs.
