Music has been known to affect the human body in many ways. It can help me feel calm, deeply relaxed, energized and also awake. It can help a person think clearer and it can also make a person not be able to think at all. Music can even change the way a person feels inside their heart. Music can shift our mood and change the way we think and feel. Music plays roles in different ways. Some people play music, some only listen, while some enjoy both, listening and playing.In my case, I am not good at playing music. But I love music than anything. Most of the time, some sort of music is always playing around me. There are different kinds of music I listen to. When I listen to music I listen for the beat as much as for the lyrics. As we discussed above, music serves mainly two purposes, which is entertainment and stress relieving. Most of the time we listen to music to fulfill both purposes. I honestly believe that music can influence and change a person's mind, body, and mood. It can relax them, alert them and even console them. I find myself thinking of the same statement, "Music is a facilitator for bringing physical responses," I don't think that I could find a statement more true than that. Indian Classical music is composed mainly of seven notes namely, "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni". It is said that all other music has its roots in these seven notes. Classical music has different categories like: Asavari, Bhairav, Bhairavi, Bilawal, Kafi, Kalyan, Khamaj, Marwa, Purvi, Todi. Every Raga has its own significance as to the occasions. One thing common in all these ragas is that it brings one close to himself/herself. Being away 16000 miles from India, often times I feel being cut off from my people. I prefer Indian Classical.
