Purple Haze

Over and over I ask the question, “Do you believe in rock n’ roll? Can music save your soul?” (Don McLean “American Pie”) to people I don’t even know; of course they think I’m crazy, but let them, they don’t know me. My life as part of the counterculture, always stoned and always free. Through the sixties, I have lived through it all, the war, the drugs, the peace, the love, and the happiness.

Recalling the days has been as interesting as living it, even with the tough times it was all worth it. I took multiple drugs, LSD and marijuana. I also participated at Woodstock, where drugs and sex were plentiful. Acid was a major drug in my time; it inspired many songs and movies, such as “Purple Haze” by Jimi Hendrix, “Purple haze all in my brain, lately things don’t seem the same. Actin’ funny but I don’t know why. ‘Scuse me while I kiss the sky.” Acid was as strong as you could get in the sixties, without using heroin, and is remembered as “The fuel of the sixties”(source unknown). Marijuana also helped guide the youth of the sixties to revolt and protest.
