Purple Haze
A detailed Summary of Purple Haze
Over and over I ask the question, "Do you believe in rock n' roll? Can music save your soul?" (Don McLean "American Pie") to people I don't even know; of course they think I'm crazy, but let them, they don't know me. My life as part of the counterculture, always stoned and always free. Through the sixties, I have lived through it all, the war, the drugs, the peace, the love, and the happiness.
Recalling the days has been as interesting as living it, even with the tough times it was all worth it. I took multiple drugs, LSD and marijuana. I also participated at Woodstock, where drugs and sex were plentiful. Acid was a major drug in my time; it inspired many songs and movies, such as "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix, "Purple haze all in my brain, lately things don't seem the same. Actin' funny but I don't know why. 'Scuse me while I kiss the sky." Acid was as strong as you could get in the sixties, without using heroin, and is remembered as "The fuel of the sixties"(source unknown). Marijuana also helped guide the youth of the sixties to revolt and protest. This drug, also known as mary jane, was the base drug of the era; it was known for a "good quick high." (www.geocities.com/hipsters-quotes.htm) These drugs and more were

As the sixties progressed, the amount of Americans in Vietnam grew larger, as our rallies grew larger. Anti-war became a part of life for my friends and me, and in some cases, a way of life. There were many protests I happen to remember, but my were the protest in Washington D.C. in 1965, I was one of 25,000 people, I also protested at the pentagon in 1967, and with 500,000 others in front of the White House in 1969.

e there were blacks for civil rights. Such as the four black students who were arrested for sitting at a whites only table in Greensboro, South Carolina on February 1, 1961. These and other raging African-American's were fed up with being tossed about like they were lower than the rest of us. One solution was when two men established an organization, in 1966, regarded as the Black Panthers. These people were a group of blacks protesting segregation and anti-black people.

Through the years I have realized that how I grew up was for the best and to think I could've had it any other way would be unbearable. " ...And I took the road less traveled and it has made all the difference."(Robert Frost "The Road Less Traveled") My life was centered on peace, love and happiness and that's the way it is go
