In the world of broadcasting, there are two main areas that deal with being an "on air" person. In the radio business there are disk jockeys, and in the world of television there are anchors. These jobs are very similar in many ways, while on the other hand they also have many differences among them. Being a Telecommunications major I see these similarities and differences every day. I learn more and more each day on the art of being a television or radio personality, and in all that I learn, I realize now that there are more similarities and differences between the two than I ever expected. Some of the similarities that are shared by both a radio disk jockey and a television anchor that they both are in the broadcast media market. In the broadcast media market, the jock and the anchor share much of the same talents. They both must have a quality voice, and be able to speak clearly with good annunciation. Therefore, their diction must be of high quality. Nothing is as bad as an anchor or jock that has trouble speaking in an every day conversation.
