Vitamin C

All natural vitamins are found only in living things, but not all-living things. For instance, human beings can not produce vitamins. While most animals and plants create their own vitamins, we have to rely on dietary supplements to forfil our needs. We must therefore ingest these important nutrients in order to prevent deficiencies.

Vitamin C, otherwise known as the Ascorbic Acid, is vital for humans. It is actually a type of carbohydrate and is produced by converting glucose into Vitamin C. It is one of the major antioxidant nutrients, which is inevitably required for the synthesis of collagen. The tissues in your body would not be held together if not for collagen, therefore we greatly need this vitamin in our system. This vitamin is said to be essential for healthy teeth and gums. There are many deficiency symptoms one will receive due to a lack of Vitamin C. A person could get such problems as bleeding gums, swollen joints, bruising, nosebleeds, or tooth decay. Some everyday things that we take in can actually reduce the level of Vitamin C in our bodies.
