constitution

Before the constitution was created, the Articles of Confederation was the document that was the foundation of America. There were many struggles and arguments between the federalists and anti-federalists in ratifying to create a constitution or make changes in the existing articles. The federalists were correct in creating a new constitution for America to be the most efficient and successful nation even though it contained minor glitches. The constitution contained the Bill of Rights which gave just fundamental rights to individuals. It also strengthened the central federal government which led to unity instead of strife within the states. From the constitution, states representation was most reasonable and didn't give one state too much or too little representation.

Adding the Bill of Rights gave individual rights the anti-federalists wished for. The first amendment declares for individuals to freedom or religion, speech, pr

ess, assembly, and petition. This guaranteed the citizens the protection and just rights which is needed and cannot be taken away by tyrannical acts. Third amendment doesn't require for citizens to house soldiers during peace time. The quartering act by King George III required citizens to house soldiers which angered the people. Other amendments also gave the people privileges like trial by jury, no cruel and unusual punishment, and right to speedy trial. Earlier, Peter Zenger wasn't given a fair trial by jury and was held in jail unreasonably. Many amendments favored the common man but there were some hypocritical flaws and mistakes in the bill of rights. A free black man named William Banneker complains to Jefferson about slavery.
