Bartleby

In the story of Bartleby the Scrivener it may not be clear at first where the central conflict lies. A peron could say the central conflict lies within the lawyer and Bartleby, or between bartleby and the lack of wanting to do work, or a person could say the conflict lies between bartleby and the other scriveners in the law office. But the major conflict does not lie there.

The major conflict is in the heart of the overbearing society mainstream American lawyer.A person who is too unkind to help out his fellow main to let him alone to be the kind person. At firt the lawyer tries to help and is really intrigued at the honesty of the lad named Bartelby from the dead letter office, he will not do anything for the lawyer. His reply is "I prefer not to". Like any man would prefer not to do work that does not concer him h decides that he would rather jut go on doing his own thing. Bartleby eventually ends up in jail and the lawyers internal pingpong match still goes on because he tries to help but does not help enough. Eventually with out help bartelby dies and in doing so makes the lawyer a little more kind makes the lawyer relize there is more to this world than money there is feelings in it also. So in the end te resolution the lawyer comes up with is that it isn't his falt bartleby dies the lawyer died his part or did he? I mean he did write a story about this so the lawyer did retell his story for a second time. Maybe though is this the lawyer would have been a little kinder to the needs of a fuman bartelby wouldn't have died.

The reason bartelby dies is because the worl has no compassion he died beause the worl will not help him. He dies because the worl turns a deft ear to the problems it has. He dies not beause he wants to he dies because he li
