The legalization of marijuana is a very controversial issue. Contrary to popular belief, there are many positive results that can come from allolwing citizens to use this drug freely. Some cancer patients have been prescribed a drug called "Maninol", a synthetic form of THC, which is one of marijuana active ingredients. This drug alleviates the patients pain, rises their spirits, induces their appetite and allows them to sleep. The FDA and the DEA has already approved this drug as a legal form of medication but in some areas it is still unaccepted as a legal form of medication. The Bush Administation targeted marijuana which hasnt' even been the sole cause of death's among it's many users. Most teens find it easier to smoke "weed" and drive also, as it gives off a different formof intoxication then alcoholso they feel more confident with their ability to drive. This is very dangerous and who is to say that if marijuana is legalized, more people won't smoke? Then when they do how could police test the people to find out if they were under the influence? Take anyone suspected to the police station and drug test them and waste tax payers money? What about the people who are around the smoke and has the strong oder on them even though they did not actually ingage in the act of smoking?

Drug legalization would not necessarily wiipe out the black market for drugs. Gambling has been legalized in some areas yet illegalized in some areas, yet illegal gambling still thrives. And the heavy tax could premote the black market.
