Canterbury Tales

A detailed Summary of Canterbury Tales

In the Merchant's Tale, Chaucer discuses how women can be deceitful, interfere in relationships, and make marriage a living hell. In the tale, the Merchant characterizes wives of a different sort. I believe all of the three things Chaucer discusses in the Merchant's Tale are true by the actions of May, Prosperina, and Griselda.

In my first paragraph, I will discuss the ways in which Griselda made marriage a living hell for the Merchant. Also, I feel that if May was a good wife that she would have come out and tell her husband how she felt inside of sneaking around his back. In addition, May was caught with Damian in a pear tree by January after his blindness suddenly went away: she then procee
