John Adams

John Adams was the first Vice President and the second President of the United States. Although not to popular, he had a very successful life.

John Adams was born October 30, 1735 in Braintree Massachusetts, which is now known as Quincy. His father's name was John Adams. He was a farmer and Militia Officer. His mother's name was Susanna Boylston Adams. The Young John Adams studied hard in the village school. He also worked hard at he household chores.

Adams graduated from Harvard College in 1775. He was ranked 14th out of 24 students in academics and he was the best scholar in the class. After College, Adams taught at a school in Worcester and also studied law in the offices of Rufus Putnam. He was admitted to the bar in 1758. In 1796 Washington refused to accept another election, Adams was elected president. He defeated Thomas Jefferson. As president, Adams was the first president to stay in the White House. It was still under construction but he still stayed there. On July 4th, 1826, Adams died on the fifth Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. He died in Quincy Massachusetts.
