After he tried soccer, football and swimming, Kieren decided that the water suited him best. But swimming became more than just a part-time when at the age of nine, he fell through a plate door and severed his calf-muscle.
He didn't know at that time, but that accident was a big affect on the rest of his life. All the doctors he had seen suggested swimming as a way of strengthening his leg.
