henry V

1. The most noticeable different aspect about the changes between the written play of Henry V and the media version of it, was the omission of many lines in the movie. Numerous examples can be cited as instances where this takes place. In act II-scene 1 lines 101 through 104 were eliminated. The lines talked about the impertinent topic of their quarreling over an irrelevant subject over money. The director chose to erase lines that he felt weren't pertinent to the entirety of the story. In actuality, all of the lines are obviously important and add to the integrality of the play, because of Shakespeare's decision to put them there.

In contrast, the movie version depicts the king to be a very somber and almost bitter person. From the way the director interprets the character of Henry V he sees him as having conflict with his personal life interfering with his duty as a king. This is a dramatic characterization alteration because the view upon the main character of the whole play is changed and the way the viewer relates to the characters is changed.

that didst bear the key of all my counsels, That knew'st the very bottom of my soul," Also, in the movie, another man in the scene slaps Scroop across the face. After their confession, Henry V, for the good of the nation, has these men executed.

Act II-scene 3, is a less important part of the play with no apparent direct connection to the main plot. It is a scene that declares the death of a man called Falstaff.

Scene 1 and 3 involve the same story line of the characters Pistol, Quickly, Nym and Bardolph. The director wanted to link scene 3 to scene 1 to isolate sce
