When installing new hardware or software, it is always best to make sure that there are no active programs or TSRs (Terminate and Stay Ready applications) running before you begin the installation. A TSR or Terminate and Stay Ready application is one that is constantly running in the background on your system, even though it is not visible to you for example screen savers, virus checkers and printer status software. To close all active programs you must first save any documents you may have been working on and close the program that you were in. Next from the Windows Desktop, press the Ctrl, Alt and Delete keys on your keyboard (at the same time). A Close Program window will appear. Each of the programs will need to be shut down.
