Illness and suffering from broken legs and attacks from other predators are also a cause of death for the cheetah as well as the destruction of their habitat. The African population is threatened as well as the Asiatic population. They are completely extinct from India. (Cavendish 189) The African population ranges from 10,000 to 15,000.
