CHILDREN AND VIOLENCE
A detailed Summary of CHILDREN AND VIOLENCE
DONNIE GRIMMETT 07 FEB 2001
Have we become a nation of violent children? Are our children more violent than children of the 1930s and 1940s are? If so, what is causing our children to be more violent? Are parents to blame completely or is it a matter that is much more complicated than that? Does hereditary play a part in it?
It is obvious that our children are violent. The question is "Are there more violent children than in the previous years". The percentage of violent children has not increased than in previous societies, it is just that we hear more about it because of the increase in technology. Technology has allowed this nation to hear and see things almost instantly. Technology has even allowed our children access to things that were not invented 50 years ago. The news media describes in great detail about violenc

As parents, we are to blame for much of our children's violence. We can not shut games, movies, and television out of their lives, but we can ensure that they understand from an early age that many forms of violence can not be undone. DEATH IS A FINAL ACT. What we can do is monitor our children, talk to them and educate them about what they see and hear. We must from an early age prepare our children for entry into this cruel world so as to make it a better world. When children see death on television we must show them that this is not real life and that these actors and actresses return to the screen sometimes in the next movie. Isolating our children is certainly not the answer neither because when they become non-isolated they will not know how to handle the situation either. In fact isolating our children is as bad as letting them watch violent show without supervision. What we allow our children
