The MTV network is the mere foundation of the numerous reality shows that have aired or are in the process of being aired on television. "The Real World" has proved that reality is as, if not more, entertaining than fiction and that what you see is as real as it gets.

"The Real World" is a show that can be considered a documentary with a pinch of soap opera action thrown in. Seven young adults, all strangers, are placed in a gorgeous house; this is a rather intimidating situation in itself.
