Generation Xers seem to have it all. They lack for nothing in the material sense. With Cable, stereos, CD, the Computer, and Internet at their disposal, what more could they ask for? We were born around the time that our mothers started working and divorces were no longer taboo. This change in the "family" structure changed the way we were raised. No longer was there a parent waiting at home for us. This started a downhill slide in the way our generation was raised. Instead of the constant presence of our parents, we were given babysitters and material possessions to help alleviate our parents' guilt. While the change in the workforce is a good thing allowing women to be somebody other a mother and a wife, it also compromised our upbringing. We no longer had a parental figure waiting at home.
