A detailed Summary of confucıanism and taoism


In this essay i will focus on the Chinese religions which are found in the VI. B.C Century. These are the Confucianism and the Taoism.

Firstly we will have a look at China at that age. At those years there were serious wars within China. The Warring States period lasted from 403 B.C. to 221 B.C. and can be considered the Dark Age of China. There was no China but rather a collection of warlord-ruled states all fighting with each other for power and territory. Life during the warring states period was harsh and chaotic. This atmosphere forced the philosophers to think a way for peace. Their efforts culminated in various philosophies, which were mainly blueprints for government which would hopefully bring the land out of chaos and back under a stable, unified rule. Finally Confucianism and Taoism were found as the solutions for peace.

We will first have a look at Confucianism. Confucianism is found by Conficious. Conficious has written many books and opened a school. The members of the school was almost addicted to the scho


We must be careful while defining the things around us. We must be respectful to everyone especially to our ancestors. Our parents are the symbols of our ancestors and we must do whatever our parents want. Even risking our own lifes we must guarantee their comfort. One of the examples interested me so deeply; (1)"a boy whose skin is very sensitive sleeps with his clothes of, so the mosquitos bite him instead of his parents." I thınk these days sons aren't any sensitive as much of this. This idea seems fantastic and unrealistic.

These philosophies are believed by so many people. Not only in China but in all over the world. These philosophies are the basic gifts of China to the humankind.

Confucius says: 'Never do anything to others, if you don't want it to be done to you.' This idea could be the cleverest idea that can prevent wars. But he couldn't be succesful while he was alive.
