INTEGRATING IT INTO THE PCET CURRICULUM

Information technology and education has been studied for some 25 years, and during the last 18-24 months revolutionary change in how people teach and learn through the use of Information Technology has advanced greatly. Yet we are still waiting for those wide spread dramatic improvements and for various research results that definitely prove the merits of applications within this Technology. Academic pundits frequently comment that the pace of innovation in higher education can be measured by the 40 years it took to get the overhead projector out of the bowling alley and into the classroom (Stephen W Gilbert 1996).

If you browse various literatures on computers in education you see a number of trends emerging, collaborative education using computers, experimentation with computer based instruction, and the re-emergence of long distance learning using computers is increased within the home and schools using e-mail and elaborate network systems. The use of computer systems within many schools and colleges would seem to be somewhat of a modern trend, the advantages of using computer systems and programmes or software are too numer
