nationalism

Nationalism to many people varyies slightly in definition and perception but basically it is a political or social philosophy in which the welfare of the nation-state as an entity is considered paramount. In the survival (longevity) category, we could add the maternal mortality rate; in the education category, we could add tertiary enrolment; and in the income category, we could add the Gini-corrected mean national income (i.e. per capita GDP multiplied by (1-G)).

Contiuing on my China town concept ; Although one might reside in China town downtown Vancouver one might still feel strong sense of nationalism for China as they go about there daily lives talking and interaction with others of the same language. However latley this issue has become controversial with the introduction as high speed "take" of the internet.worries are surfacing of there being one language that will now dominate the world; perticularly being english (see ** in works cited) Will language become a less defining factor in nationalism as communications technologies
