A detailed Summary of Grandma

It was August of 2000 when my life changed forever. I had just awakened, unfortunately on school registration day. As I stumble in to take a shower the phone rang; nevertheless, it was my mom calling from grandma's apartment to wake me up no doubt, so I pick it up . But when I did, she sounded frantic. She said, " Get over here immediately Grandma is gone!"

Since my grandmother lived in Tennessee for so long, when she moved back, I spent an abundance of time with her. We went grocery shopping and out to eat, except I had to drive because Grandma wasn't the best at driving. The best quality about her was her stubbornness. Although Grandma smoked non-filter cigarettes for fifty years, she swore she was the healthiest seventy-five year old on the earth. Grandma would sit and argue with Mom constantly about going to the doctor, she'd say, " Why go to the doctor and have them tell me something I don't want to know." Finally Mom called for her to get a check up, but did not tell Grandma until about two days before. She realized that we had her trapped, so hard headed Grandma gave in.

Mom sounded unhappy, "No Brittney, I don't think so."

Grandma was already gone when I arrived, so I did not get to say the things to her that I wanted to. However, after coping with this, finally I realized that Grandma was precious to me and she knew what I felt inside.

I muttered, "about what now!" She was completely delirious, I definitely dumbfounded and not understanding why she got mad. Suddenly, the mood became extremely down and dim. As if a horrific storm had just rolled in. An unexplainable feeling in the pit of my stomach arose.

Grandma was the only one who did not take it seriously; therefore, she kept smoking and not eating a bite. Eventually it got worse, and the doctor told her she needed chemotherapy. She went for those treatments; nevertheless they made her ill. Grandma was losing her hair quickly, so Mom shaved it only because that is what Grandma wanted. I loved the way she looked with no hair; it was the one thing she was proud of. Even though she was sick, s
