Greece

The Danforth is renown by Torontonians for many things, from its exquisite cuisine of Greek restaurants to the fruit markets and butcher shops that line the streets. When one delves deeper into the heart of the community it is easy to see that the inhabitants of this area are community oriented and quite friendly. The Danforth is an area that is ideal for those that wish to reside in a place that has the life of the big city with the complement of a small community atmosphere. Although things on the Danforth are not as they were some time ago, there has been a substantial amount of changes over the past fifteen years, and the community is definitely one that is in transition. Through the observations made on the field trip to the Riverdale/Danforth area, as well as with the aid of the information gathered from Statistics Canada and articles about the area, it is prevalent that there are signs of the community being in transition. It is unmistakable that this area will be known distinctly as "Little Greece" for years to come, and will be enjoyed by all those whom visit this exquisite area of Toronto.

The final form of collecting data used was through the method of interviewing people that were in the Riverdale/Danforth area at the time we visited. This type of research was knew to me, as I had never interviewed anyone before and found that people were often willing to co-operate. When interviewing an individual the opportunity is given to the interviewee to express their own feelings and describe their views as they see them to be. Interviews provide direct answers to specific questions that one might have when researching a topic such as this one, or even allow one to look at an issue from a totally different perspective. Although interviews can pose a problem with the fact that they are usually opinionated and almost always bias driven.

ad to a greater understanding of the area and the changes taking place.
