The Rock

In the rock it is a very powerful and shows a lot of the different types of leaderships style that we had talked about in the past. With the military mercenary group in my opinion yes there is a commander General Hummel but what I noticed as I was watching the movie was that all of them respected and followed his orders but when it came to getting down there was a change. First lets go over the four main men with in the group and look at each on of their type of leadership demonstrated in the movie. Major Baxton, General Hummels right hand man. He demonstrates some what of a pleaser because he follows orders and wants to do right by his commander the General, also of an achiever he wants to get things done right the first time around he is very goal oriented when he is told do something that's what he sets out to do. Captain Hendrix on the other hand shows to be more of an attacker than anything else. He has a bad attitude he is very much in control of himself and when h!

e says jump that what he wants to happen. He is also an achiever goal oriented he is very self confident in what he sets out to achieve. Captain Frye and Capt Darryl are performers and attackers. They both they have no feeling but are both very strong w

Goodspeed also uses his positional role by his FBI training and his education but he also uses the personal role when he is looking out to defuse the deadly gases to save millions of lives and of course his pregnant fiance and the hostages on the island of Alcatraz. So this mission becomes very personal to Goodspeed.

Stanley Goodspeed is a commander, avoider, pleaser and achiever. In the movie he shows the commander style by in some scenes having control of what he is doing. When he is dealing with the deadly gas things need to go right or everyone is dead and he shows that you do it the way I say now or we all are dead. The avoider comes out because he has never been in combat and doesn't want to be in that situation. He is scared. Yes he an achiever 100% of the way. He is very self confident in what he does and wants to fix the problem he is set out to do and is open to any suggestion that are brought to him.

Lets discuss the personal and positional styles of Hummel, Goodspeed and Mason. Hummel and Goodspeed there positional role is the experience they received serving in Government and military. Hummel uses his military training and experience through the whole movie but his personal is another situation. He leads by example and motivates his so-called troops to follow him in the ordering of the government to make reparations to the
