The African Queen
Audrey Hepburn - Rosy or Rose At the beginning of the movie, in the exposition of the plot, we are introduced to the two main characters, Rose (Audrey Hepburn) and Norman (Humphrey Bogart), along with a minor character, the minister who also happens to be Rose's husband. Hepburn plays a missionary in Africa who, along with her husband, is trying to convert all of the Africans to become Methodist. In the film, it is basically religion against no religion. The battle is between strictness of beliefs. Rose is Methodist and Norman has no religion stated. Rose is very strict with her religion, following every rule to a "T" and liking it that way. Norman likes to be able to do whatever he wants and love God in his own personal way. Critical Essay: Religion and Structural I believe that this portrayal of relationships between religions is very accurate. It is also appropriate for the time and setting of the film. If
