"Hamlet", one of William Shakespeare's greatest plays was written around the 1600's. In those days, theatres and plays were hard to come by for the poor people and the rich always mocked the actors. Women were not allowed to act, so if they needed someone to play women's part they would have to find a boy whose voice had not changed.
Shakespeare was an author that wrote beautiful and romantic plays. William Shakespeare was a man who looked for romance in all the possible ways. Shakespeare's pays were full of many strong emotions and full of romance even though the lovers in his plays ended up with a tragic ending. Hamlet was about a man in his 30's who had just found out his father was murdere
Hamlet's world was bleak and cold. He thought no one or anything could be trusted. By Hamlet thinking this he made the woman he loved, Ophelia, go crazy. Hamlet couldn't even trust his mother, the queen, because she had married his uncle right after his father's death. Hamlet never got over his father's death and would walk around the castle every morning, which drove the new King mad. Another character that Hamlet didn't trust was the ghost, nor did he trust what it said. He had some actors reenact the murder of his father in the play was called "The Mouse Trap." The purpose of the play was to see what the King did when he saw it. The whole story was how Hamlet would get revenge for his father's murder.
