A detailed Summary of demographic data of 3 countries


This research assignment was to compare the demographic data of three countries of the year 2000, and the projection of 2025; one each from Europe, Asia, and Africa. I decided to choose Poland, Pakistan, and Zimbabwe, for no particular reason. Each countries size and current populations are very different. Even with such a great difference, the demographics show many similar trends.

Poland's current population is about 40,000 and its projected population is a few hundred smaller, even with longer life expectancies. The projected rate of decrease is guessed at .3 percent. The largest number of Polish citizens are between the ages of 30 and 55. As a well developed nation, families don't have too many children and are concerned with money, their jobs, and education. Poland's population trend is very similar to ours in the US. They even had their "baby boom" about the same time as we did.

Pakistan is projected to under go a serious population boom. Their current numbers are around 140,000 and they are expected to be close to 215,000 in 25 years. Pakistan is the only one of these three countries where a positive growth rate should occur. More than half of the current population are too young to have children. In 25 years these children will be adults and Pakistan is going to have a very hard time locating jobs for all of their citizens. If Pakistan is to become a modernized country, they will need to also focus on many new schools and teachers. This will also help them in finding new jobs.

I'm sure they will harm the environment greatly in the years to come. There will be much developing if there is to be enough housing for the people. With more people, that means more cars and emissions and much other pollutants. The US and other environmentally
