Animal Experimentation: A Nazi Science
Written for a 12th grade level for Advanced Composition.Animal Experimentation: A Nazi Science According to PETA, twenty million animals are killed yearly in the United States alone from animal experimentation. This number is increasing as the need for cures in human diseases rises. Society is becoming desperate to live and they will do anything to help themselves. They will even go as far as killing defenseless animals. Gandhi, the great civil rights leader, once said, "The greatness of a nation...can be judged by the way its animals are treated." Animals share the same basic rights as humans and the experimentation on them should be banned because it is cruel and unnecessary. All animals share the same basic rights as humans. Because humans are mammals they are not separated form the animal kingdom. According to animal rights activists, both should exist in the world as one. In this century this statement is hidden and buried in the human ego. It is so deep that humans are raising animals just to butcher them. No animal is born to die or to be tortured. Humans are not even born and raised this way, permanently
Discussion about animal experimentation has been carried on for the past twenty years. A question should not even be asked about it. Face it, animals share the same basic rights as humans, and the experimentation on them should be banned because it is cruel and unnecessary. Experimentation on animals is cruel. Numerous animals are tested all over the country and millions are dying. The FDA accounts that, 5040 horses, 6 million mice and rats, 2.2 million chickens, 720 kittens, and 120 puppies, plus many others, are killed yearly. The reason for so many deaths lies behind murderous procedures. They range anywhere from severing a monkey's arm to burning a puppies skin and fur. Researchers have even gone as far as feeding animals 552 bottles of soft drinks a day, according to Robert Garner, author of Animals, Politics, and Morality. These procedures are unusual and pain staking. The Constitution of the United States doesn't even allow criminals to die from "cruel and unusual punishment." Let alone gross procedures, the animals don't even receive appropriate care. Researchers and caretakers shove helpless animals into cold, small, metal cages where they sit in their feces and urine. The FDA does require that researchers feed and water their animals regularly. Does the FDA watch every single step, in every single laboratory, for every single animal? This is impossible. It is true that some researchers do give appropriate care. Commonsense brings belief that most researchers are not following standards. Besides not having Animal experimentation is unnecess
