In public schools today, there is a decision to be made in creating a dress code. Initiating a dress code in public schools can prove to be beneficial in many ways. Is a dress code more beneficial with or without uniforms? Mandating a dress code in public schools results in both costs and benefits. The right to be able to express one's self is a very important thing. Even though the dress code might prevent theft and jealousy, the cost does not outweigh the benefits of establishing a dress code.

One reason for a dress code is that it prevents jealousy that can occur from less fortunate children. These children, that is financially challenged and cannot afford some of the clothing that other students can afford. Students should wear uniforms, because some students can't afford to have the same type of clothing as other children. The uniforms that schools pu


ools should have a dress code, but are they more beneficial to the examples against uniforms?

These two arguments have been debated for a long time. Both sides pose strong arguments, but Freedom of speech is a constitutional right that has been given to America and there fore lets one express them selves. How can school, the place that teaches students about the constitution take this right away from us. To be able to express yourself is a valuable thing that should never be striped from a person. Also to fell relaxed in an environment that people have to enter every day is important. That is why uniforms should not be mandated in a public school.
