Perhaps it is unlikely that a single person can change the world, but they can certainly make a difference in someone's life. Whether it is providing food for the homeless, mentoring the less educated, or just spending time with a friend in need, you can always make a difference. Regardless of the size of your contribution, it is the time taken out of your life which can make what you do mean a great deal to someone in need.
I believe that I have made a valuable difference in the world. In the past, I have done volunteer work through New York Cares. New York Cares is a non-profit agency dedicated to assisting people in need, and to making our city a better place to live through creative giving. I volunteered with my sister to help a group of less fortunate 5
to 12 year old children learn how to swim. I can not describe just how rewarding it was to give something so special to those children. They all were brought up in poor environments, which did not allow them to live the lifestyle that I was fortunate enough to have had. Sadly, many of them had never been in a pool before.
Reaching out to help someone is a very important act of goodwill. It makes the person you're helping feel good because they feel loved, and at the same time it makes you feel rewarded because you made a difference. Even the smallest contribution can mean the world to someone. I will continue to do my part in making this world a better place to live, through volunteer
