Immortal Beloved

Immortal Beloved is a true story of Ludwig Von Beethoven's life as a musician. Starring Gary Coleman as Beethoven along with Isabella Rosallini, Jeroen Krabbe, and Valeria Galino. It is directed by Bernard Rose. The story line is as follows, after the death of Beethoven his manager seeks the identity of "my immortal beloved", the composer's intended heir to all his fortune and music.

The story starts off with the death of Beethoven and his funeral. Soon after, his only living brother and his manager, Schindler, are shown fighting over his will. This is where the story begins. Th movie is written in continual flashbacks of Beethoven's life as his manager travels to everywhere Beethoven has lived and questions all his lover's.

After the argument with Beethoven's brother he soon takes a carriage to the Swan Hotel in Carlsbad. He is searching for a lead woman is. The desk clerk agrees to speak with him about Beethoven'' stay at the hotel. She tells him a story of when a woman dressed in black stayed there and was waiting for Beethoven. Schindler is speaking with the countess and goes into a flashback of when he was introduced to Beethoven and how they became such good friends. He also talks of how Beethoven took his nephew away from his mother out of anger and spite. He then raised the boy into a man, teaching him music and life. But because he is so demanding and tough to the boy he leaves Beethoven as soon as he is old enough. Then the flashback goes into the present where Schindler is still interviewing the countess.

The movie ends with Schindler giving Johanna the will and letter, and then leaving her the fortune. I thought the movie was slow but interesting. Beethoven led a complex life, but accomplished so very much. Because of this class and this movie I have found an interest in classical music.

He then asks the countess, are you the one, are you his immortal beloved? He shows her a letter that was found with his will stating he is givi
