destroying our homes

A detailed Summary of destroying our homes

Why do we continue to destroy our world? Everyday we take more and more natural resources. A Dutch study found that twenty percent of our cartrips are a mile or less. A Dutch researcher by the name of Linda Steg, Ph.D., reported that the Netherlands are now using twenty five percent more energy than they did fourteen years ago. This all says that we are not conscious of how fast we are damaging the delicate balance we have with Mother Nature. Why do we humans continue to be the only species that destroys and uses our planet and also drains and kills it (Gifford)?

One of our most precious resources, our water, becomes more polluted everyday. The Great Lakes, home to one-fifth of the world's surface fresh water, is so polluted that lake trout can not even reproduce in them. Both Canada and some states rely on the Great Lakes for food. Now some scientists do not even cow what species of bacteria or parasites that they are finding in some fish. This is because international ships come in and bring nonindigenous bacteria and parasites, which have no natural predators, thus upsetting the delicate balance we have with our ecosystem. It is believed that the declining

Think of what pollution and human intervention has done to the way the earth looked like three hundred years ago. That is not that long ago in relation to how old our planet is. We have done all this damage in a very short amount of time. If we are not careful generations to come may suffer from what we have done. Think of what kind of pollution we will have from all this new technology we create everyday if we are not careful.

The good thing is more and more people are becoming more conscious of how precious this wold is. Australia is trying to lead the world in having a zero-greenhouse-pollution economy. They hope to have the use of fusion technology. They will have offshore wind and on-shore solar arrays that will pipe clean energy inland to produce hydrogen from water. They will take advantage of their sunny climate and place Photovoltaic building material cells on roofs, walls, and windows. These will create clean energy they will also use hydrogen power for zero-emission fuel cell for: buses, trucks, and cars all with practically no waste! This is all suppose to be in effect by twenty fifty. It is nice to know some pe
