Black people had significant historical importance to the nation and the importance of black-white relations in U.S. society today. Throughout the history black were denied many important things to have, a traditional life style, black Americans could not work, live, shop, eat, seek entertainment, or travel where they chose, they were denied in voting rights, education, employment. A large majority of blacks lived in poverty; kids could not receive proper education, blacks Americans were forced to go to separate schools for blacks only. Many years has past since those times and today the situation is very different. In education, many blacks received college degree from universities that formerly excluded them. Also black Americans experienced changes in work place, they often hold professional and managerial jobs in desegregated settings. In politics, most blacks Americans now participate in elections. Overall, many blacks have achieved middle-class status. But despite all th!

ose changes black people remain substantially behind white people, they still face problems like discrimination, prejudice, they denied in equal opportunities, and inequality of conditions.

Affirmative action another hot issue today in politics. Affirmative action was created because unequal treatment of minorities by white society. It was impossible for black people to have a good job or to have a proper education. Affirmative action was created 30 years ago as a remedy for the underused of minority and female human resources in the workplace and classroom (Melinda Carlton, Public Management, 1997). Employers denied that race is currently a social problem, and that black people are responsible themselves for socioeconomic differences. Black people believe that race is still very much a social problem in America and belief that constant barrier limits their way of live. To solve arguments among black and white people, country needed some one else to be involved to dispute the differences among races. In June of 1995 the Supreme Court handed down a 5-4 opinion regarding the Adarand Constructors v. Pena case, which challenged a federal affirmative action program.!

The status of blacks in American society has been subject of study for many years and still American Government trying to change social and economical status of blacks American in American Society. Blacks Americans for many years were subjects to violent treatment by white people. Blacks were subject to discrimination; they also were denied equal opportunities. Discrimination and unequal opportunities play an important role in the lives of many blacks, and even in the absence of discrimination the opportunities of many blacks are limited. Inequalities in economic status to a large extent cause and interact with other status features to maintain overall black-white differences in status (National Research Counsel 1992). Yet the status of blacks is determined by the presence of both racial stratification and class, their position in social-economic structure of society. The long history of discrimination and segregation produced among blacks strong sense of group consciousnes!
