ALice in wonderland

Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, pen name Lewis Carroll, wrote two of the most famous books in children’s literature, Alice in Wonderland, and Through the Looking Glass. These books are considered some of the most influential books ever written. In these books, Dodgson creates a world of fantasy. “The Alice books have a value beyond their appeal to children. They also have been interpreted as political satire and are highly esteemed as sophisticated treatises on mathematics and logic.” (Discover, 1). Singly Alice in Wonderland is the book I read.

Charles Lutwidge Dodgson was born on January 27, 1832 to the Reverend Charles Lutwidge and Frances Jane (Lutwidge) Dodgson. Charles’ father was a clergyman and rector for the Church of England. He was the eldest son of eleven. At an early age Charles was interested in poetry as well as mathematics. He was home schooled and also attended Richmond School of Rugby. At the age of eighteen he began studies at the prestigious, Oxford University Christ Church. Two and a half years later he was made a fellow of Christ Church, Oxford, and commenced in lecturing in mathematics. “In 1856 he began writing humorous pieces for journals under the pen name Lewis Carroll,
