D'Artagnan is the main character in the story. He wants to become a musketeer, so he takes a letter of introduction to his father's friend, Monsieur de Treville who was the captain of the musketeers, so he can be accepted in the Royal Academy. On his way to Paris, where Monsieur de Treville is at, he is mugged and the letter is taken from him. He still manages to get in the Royal Academy, so he can become a musketeer. Athos, one of the three musketeers, is the oldest of the three musketeers. He is closer to d'Artagnan than the other musketeers are. Aramis is also a musketeer. He was to become a priest, but instead, he became a musketeer because an officer ordered him not to speak to a lady he was loyal to.
