The Day the Earth Stood Still

Running, Running, Running, through the desolate woods not knowing where I am going or what I am going to find ahead of me. Voices of angry men penetrate my ears, they sound like a pact of hungry wolves on the kill never stopping until they have gotten what they wanted...fresh meat. Mother had always told me not to wander off at night in fear of the men in white robes. But now I was running for my life; running from the wolves that want nothing but to see me die. Trees fly by me as I try and escape the hands of the grim reaper. My feet ache with pain as sticks and rocks penetrate my bare feet. The cries of the wolves seem to be getting closer not knowing how long till I come to eternal rest.

I never talked about what happened that night but I thought about it all the time. It was something that was going to haunt me for the rest of my life and the world as I know it will never be the same.

With every step on the ground the sound of my heart beats louder and louder in my ears. My head feels 20lbs heavier and I just want to faint and wake up in my bed in the morning and realize that it was all just a bad dream. But as I trip on a large nodulose I fall face first on the cold hard ground. I lie there looking up at the sky wondering if this will be the holy resting-place for this soldier. I lie there for what felt like an eternity. All of a sudden there was a blaze of orange in the sky. I bolted up and started walking towards the orange fire in the firmament. I see the edge of the
