“American History X”
The movie American History X presented a state of mind that has eluded me for so long and that is hatred towards someone just for the plain reason that they are a different colour to you. This movie showed the brutal realities of a mindset associated with a man named Hitler, White Power. The thought that one race is better than another and that is not all believing that they must all die. When I was growing up I was told that history was suppose to be learned from that the mistakes in the past should not be repeated in the future. For god sakes it is over! Derek Vinyard is fed with this notion of white power from a well-known white supremacist who has been around a while writing many books and trying to bind together an army of white impressionable young men. Derek with this notion in hand gets in rages and with each outburst he pushes his family further away and his mother is having a hard time keeping everyone together. The worst part is that his younger brother seems to be following the path of his brother believing that brother knows best.
