Does prolonged exposure to television affect a person's memory? People are continually asked to memorize information for different purposes. Everyday people remember things they do not benefit from immediately but help them in the future. In today's society television has a great impact on the viewers. In recent years many negative aspects of television has been discussed. Television has been linked to an increase in violence, and shorter retention spans, just to mention a few.

Twenty high school students with ages ranging from 13 to 18 years old participated in this experiment. The experiment was conducted by using a standard Sony 24 inch television set. Ten words were chosen at random from a Webster's dictionary and thesaurus. The participants were given these ten words to memorize, which is shown in appendix 1.
