Life can be stressful, especially for the female college freshman. Adult's stress over work, family and children, as well as their financial well-being, health and marriage problems are issues that are unavoidable in their life. Teenagers, on the other hand, live with a much lower stress environment. However, college is an important time where teenagers will make decisions, which will determine what they will do with their lives. It is a time where they set the path they have to take to reach their goals. They are faced with many questions such as selecting a school, which may be in their hometown or away from home. Female and male students both experience a great deal of stress at this point of they're lives. However, research shows that female students experience higher levels of stress in their freshman year. In this essay I will discuss the higher stress levels of female students during their freshman year.

Indeed the Women's movement has affected the way college students think in the last 30 years. It had reflected on the educational plans and career aspiration of women, and the attitudes of both sexes towards the role of women in today's society. Women are more interested in pursuing professional degrees than men. They are becoming more involved in careers such as medicine, law, and business. In which men have traditionally held most of the positions. As a result the pattern of career choices among freshman men and women are more alike today then they were in the 1960's. Since 1967, the gender gap on close-minded thinking about woman careers has changed as well. Overall the idea of "woman best confined to the home and family" has declined since the 1967. On top of it all the question that has been asked first time in 1970's " women should receive the same salary and opportunities for advancement as do men" became more agreeable and this way of thinking increased among both men !
