Every being on this planet consists of many "streams" of love and "knots" of hate. The aspect that makes us unique is how we express those feelings toward our society. We can show affection to someone but, at the same time show disgust to that same individual. We are never sure why we do this. Moreover, we sometimes ask inquire to ourselves to determine the reasoning for our cruelty. In "The Scarlet Ibis," hate and love is illustrated throughout infinite aspects of imagery. The author shows, through diction how Doodle and his brother have the same predicament through love and hate.

Doodle and the narrator had grew closer through a disability that Doodle obtained, but this togetherness brought a series of emotions. A strong example of the narrator's hatred is in the quotation, "It was the clove of seasons, summer was dead but autumn had not yet been born, that the ibis lit in the bleeding tree." I feel that this quotation explains Doodle's brother very elaborately. Doodle's broth


As we mature we seem to make this assumption more often. We see the world as a negative or troubled place. I believe if we seek to better ourselves we must strive not to become a person of "seasons," as Doodle's brother but to become like doodle himself, a garden of wondrous flowers. Humanity should not perceive Doodle's condition to be an obstacle, but as a way that brought him and his brother closer. To perceive a situation such as Doodle's in that aspect would bring yourself closer to a stronger loving world.
