"Religion is our ancient heritage of idea concerning the origin of all living things and the meaning of life."(Spencer, 25) Religion has been around since the beginning of man. The word religion has a different meaning to different cultures. Some believe that it is a type of control and traditions passed from generation to generation. Others see it as an inspiration and emotions or rituals and worship (Spnecer, 52). Most people use some sort of Religion. It is what gives people hope and a since of justice. Religion helps people not to fear death or gives them a since of comfort when they lose a loved one. Most Religions have a bible that they follow. A bible gives them rules and teaches them about their God or gods. This book is to be obeyed and followed throughout ones life. The following will discuss the origin of religion, religion's function and the questions man has, and how myths are viewed as part of religion.

People ask themselves many questions such as who am I, where am I going, what is the importance of my existence, and where am I going when I die. As we know these questions cannot be answered. That is where religion comes in it answers these questions and gives people something to hold on to and also guide them. Religion gives people direction in their lives and helps them with problems and challenges they face. The use of bibles gives people a book of stories that can interpret into moral stories. These help people to stay on the right path and lead them to there final peace. There are many duties one must do when involved in religion. Man must realize God have power over them. "Thus the duty of worship is recognized."(Planck, 63) God preserve man and aids him in his battles. Therefore man is in great debt to his religion, a relationship develops such as his God is the benefactor and he is the beneficiary. "The second duty develops is that man is to love their God!
