Depression is an illness in which a person experiences a marked change in their mood and in the way they view themselves and the world. Being clinically depressed is very different from the occasional lows that all people experience from time to time. Occasional feelings of sadness are a normal part of life, but when it takes over ones life it is considered abnormal. Many people that suffer from depression don't know, or are in denial. If more people are taught about depression and the symptoms, they would be able to get treatment for it, or assist some get the help they need.

However, depression effects the thinking of the person who has it, so they are often not aware that they are suffering from it.
Depression is often used to describe someone who is feeling low about themselves at the moment, when in reality it is a whole lot more than that. It is a total body illness that no mater how hard a person try to talk them selves out of it they still feel bad. It can effect a person in every aspect of their life from home to work to their social life.
