"Come along children. Be careful and hold on to the side of the pool. Stay in one line and don't get out of line," rang a beautiful, gentle voice from the inside of the pool.

"I am disappointed. There are no fly girls this year in the camp. This is going to be a long summer!" said Max annoyingly.

"I absolutely agree with you, Max," Mike said.

Just as this was said, Mike heard the gentle voice and turned around. A tall, well figured young girl walked up the poolside towards him. She had a group of ten loud children with her, who resembled little rascals and jumped all over the place. She appeared to Mike to be a very pretty blue-eyed goddess.

"Hey, Mike, earth to Mike," Max called, but did not notice who Mike had his eye on.

Once he caught sight of the girl, Max remained silent for few seconds. As she walked past Mike, she smiled gently.

It seemed so heavenly to him. He barely had the

"What's your name?" Mike managed to ask.

"Yeah, I am working with nursery kids this entire summer. What about you?"

"Yeah, I heard that you have this idea that I like you," Marina continued to say.

enough of a voice to wake him up. This was the day Marina was supposed to come and meet him at the Champs. He sat there for two hours and waited for her to come into the door at any minute. Snow fell on the ground in uptown Manhattan. Mike watched every flake tumble down with the most gentle movements and silently fall on the ground where it was enveloped in a great whiteness of already piled snow. He nervously looked at his watch every five minutes. The hands seemed to move very slowly. Ten, twenty, forty minutes went by, but Mike remained sited and ordered one martini after another. Deep down inside he knew that she would never come back,

"Sir, sir, here are your martinis," the waiter rudely said in a loud

As days passed, Mike and Marina became friends.

"What?" Mike exclaimed, surprised as ever.

He was so happy at first. Nevertheless, as days went by, he began to miss her. Sometimes Mike even wanted to call her and apologize. His pride however, would not let him do that. He knew it was his fault, and he knew

"I am serious. In fact, I think he wants to ask you out," Anatoliy concluded.

Everyone was focused on their conversation at this time and laughed at Mike.
