Websters Dictionary defines Messiah as "the anticipated savior," who or what it saves is undefined. The Matrix was a movie with profound and dynamic meaning. The main character, Neo, was chosen to save the world from itself. The title of the movie was the most complexed part of the movie. The matrix was a duplication of the real world created by robots with artificial intelligence. The robots had begun to take over the real world and only a few chosen people could see past the world that was created for them. This movie was based around the physical, spiritual, and mythical meaning of The Matrix. The Matrix was a movie describing the physical aspects of the world in which they lived in. In the movie the artificial intelligence computers, which took on human form, had created a world. This world was being lived in by the entire population, except for a few people. Neo, Trinity, and Morpheus were the three main characters in the movie. Neo was the chosen one, The Messiah. They all knew about and could travel in and out of the matrix by phone systems. The Matrix was just a predetermined life created by a superior intelligence. The population of the world were followers of the matrix.
This movie has given me a whole new meaning of life. I never thought about the movie in a spiritual way. I see my life in a new way now, I see that what I do now in life is just a preparation for the after life. The Matrix seemed to reflect the world we live in and can be taken anyway you see it, but it has reflected a spiritual side in me. In the movie Neo and his friends often visited an old woman, known as the Oracle. She was their guide, the person that they went to for answers. Although, she lived inside the matrix, she had great knowledge about the matrix and all it stood for. The Oracle represented a priest in the world we live in now. She was a guiding force in the lives of Neo and his friends. She was used to convince Neo that he was indeed the chosen one, despite what he thought. They went to the Oracle to find answers and see the right path and in the real world, just as we go to the priest to find answers in life. Another important role in the movie was the character Cypher, he was the temptation of the group and he betrayed them. Morpheus is the lord of dreams, he is the head of the rebellion group to the matrix. The meaning the lord of dreams has in this movie is the way that Neo and his friends use sleep to go back and forth between worlds. Dreams are the gateway into another world and allow us to open our eyes to view this movie in a different light. This shows that the matrix is a dream world.
