From the beginning of the world women were always considered to be inferior to men. Especially when it comes to the field of literature. So far it has been a male dominated field. Times have changed but there are still some controversy surrounding female writers and poets. From reading Adrienne Rich's essay titled "When We Dead Awaken: Writing as Re-vision" I found that women are being discriminated against and thus being prevented to develop their writings.
