Amida's body is rounded and a little bit fat that emphasis on realistic detail and body weight. This statue's color is brown. It is made by wood with traces of polychrome. His face is very rounded and serene. His eyes are very narrow and long. It is half closed as if he is looking down people quietly. His eyebrow is as long as his eyes and it is as narrow as his eyes. On his head, he has a lot of little balls instead of hair. He has very long ears that are almost down to his chin line. His mouth is closed tight. He has thick lips. He sits on the floor with his legs crossed each other. This statue does not have arms. (I guess it came off.) This Amida has rounded face and body. He seems to be well fed. I think Unkei was also hoping to have enough food for everyone all the time. The sculpture of Amida is sitting on the floor with his legs crossed. Unkei wanted to show the way Amida did meditation. It must be the easiest way to trash thought that you have on your mind. You put gravity under your stomach and try to feel the black hall at that point. Unkei also wanted to show people how many thinking on one's mind. That is shown with Amida's strange hairstyle. Each ball on his head has meaning. For example, one ball means family and another means food. Amida is incarnation of people as well as God.
