Heroes of yesterday and today
Ever since the beginning, heroes have helped and contributed to society. Heroes do great things for others, is proven every day through life and history through loyalty, courage, and generosity. In the story "Beowulf" loyalty is shown through the way, "He journeyed forever joyless ..." (p.17) in a loyal conquest to destroy a beast that is devouring his fellow man. He demonstrated his loyalty and good to man as for the kingdom by traveling through a miserable enviroment to risk his life to save others. Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. has demonstrated courage through his life by speaking out for what he believes in. In, " ... 1955-56 ... he led the boycott ... by Montgomery blacks against the segregated city bus lines." Another great demonstration of loyalty to his fight for integration came when, " He organized the massive march on Washington, which brought more than two hundred thousand people together." Although when he planned a poor people's march on Washington it was interrupted, " ... in support of striking sanitation workers." His continuous efforts and loyalty after he made his speach starting with, " I had a dream..." was ended when, " ... he was shot and killed by an assasins bullet." Another person who has been a true
Back in 1942, a black man with the courage to become the wealthiest black man in history was born. His name was Reginald F. Lewis and he was born in East Baltimore to working class family. He had the courage to step up and earn a total of nine varsity letters in a time when there was no hope of integration. "... he earned four varsity letters in baseball, three in football where he was the starting quarterback and two varsity letters in basketball." Then he had the courage to move even farther and, "... attended Harvard Law School and became a successful corporate lawyer before remaking himself into a financier and buyer of corporations." Then when he became a he has shown loyalty is when I needed thirty dollars right then.He turned to me and gave me the money because he knew I needed the money. Lastly, there was a time when I was extremely ill and he stayed over my house to take care of me. Heores have been around ever since the beginning of man. Heroes do great things for others is the one thing that has stood true about heroes. Martin Luther King, Jr. has done great things for many others by, "... speaking out for what he believes in." Another example is when, " Ripken had visited hospitals with the Make a Wish Foundation," to visit local kids with cancer. Lastly, another great example of a hero doing good for others is when Jackie Robinson entered, " ... into the white man's past time to pave, " ... the way for African Americans who dreamed of playing our nation's highest caliber of baseball." Heroes can be different kinds of people who do good deeds as long as they do good deeds for others. successful man he, " ... moved into the elite circle of wall Street deal-makers," to continue his way to become the wealth
